Home For Christmas

A woman was waiting in the check-out line at a shopping center. Her arms were laden with a mop and broom and other cleaning supplies.

By her actions and deep sighs, it was obvious she was in an extreme hurry and was not happy about the slowness of the line.

When the cashier called for a price check on a box of soap, the woman remarked indignantly, "Well, I'll be lucky to get out of here and home before Christmas!"

"Don't worry, ma'am," replied the clerk. "With that wind kicking up out there and that brand new broom you have there, you'll be home in no time.

GOOD MONDAY MORNING…IT IS CHRISTMAS EVE….MY HOW EXCITING IT IS AS WE DRAW EVER CLOSER TO CHRISTMAS…I KNOW THERE ARE FOLKS THAT ARE NOT WILD ABOUT CHRISTMAS, BUT WHEN I THINK THAT WE CAN CELEBRATE THE FACT THAT GOD SENT HIS ONLY SON JUST FOR US…THAT IS SOMETHING TO GET EXCITED ABOUT!!!!

MY DAD WAS ALWAYS EXCITED ABOUT CHRISTMAS AND I GUESS IT RUBBED OF ON ALL OF US.  GROWING UP THE MUSIC, THE DECORATIONS, THE FOOD AND YES, THE GIFT WERE JUST SOMETHING TO BEHOLD…BUT WE LEARNED THE TRUE MEANING IN GOD GIVING HIS SON…AND THAT WE TOO SHOULD GIVE….I WONDER WHAT GRANDMA AND UNCLE GEORGE DID WITH ALL THOSE HANDKERCHIEFS THEY GO OVER THE YEARS FROM ME!!!  WE THOUGHT IT WAS IMPORTANT TO GIVE AND WE GAVE THE BEST WE COULD…EVEN IF IT CAME FROM WOOLWORTHS….

ANY WAY…MAY THIS SEASON BLESS YOUR LIFE AND MAY YOU BLESS OTHERS!!!

Family Relationships

I ran short of money while visiting my brother, and borrowed $50 from him.

After my return home, I wrote him a short letter every few weeks, enclosing a $5 check in each one. He called me up and told me how much he enjoyed the letters, regardless of the money; I had never written regularly before.

Eventually I sent off a letter and the last five-dollar check.

In my mail box the next week I found an envelope from my brother. Inside was another $50.

A PRAYER FOR CHRISTMAS

DEAR FATHER IN HEAVEN, AS WE CELEBRATE THE BIRTH OF YOUR SON. THIS CHRISTMAS  MAY WE SEE THE GLORY THAT THE SHEPHERDS WITNESSED AND MAY WE KNOW THE JOY THAT FILLED THEIR SOULS WITH HOPE.   WE THANK YOU FOR THIS SEASON OF HOPE, PEACE, JOY. AND LOVE.  MAY EACH OF THOSE MOMENTS BE REFLECTED IN US.
MAY WE, WILLINGLY SHARE THE GOOD NEWS TO ALL;BY OUR WITNESS, BY THE WAY WE LIVE AND IN OUR ACTIONS TOWARD OTHERS. HELP US TO KEEP THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS ALIVE , FOREVER MORE. AMEN.

ALL ABOUT GRACE
When I was pastor of Central Baptist Church in Springhill, Louisiana (1984-89), I got to know Bro. Leo Beck. Bro. Beck was a retired Methodist pastor who was pastor to all the town. Bro. Beck grew up in a large family with many brothers and sisters. He said that on Christmas eve, when they hung their socks on the mantle, he always put up two socks. He said, "My mother and daddy had so many kids, they never caught on. I always got twice as much as I deserved." To tell you the truth, I've always gotten twice as much at Christmas as I deserve. It is a season of grace!
LYNN JONES WAS PASTOR OF FBC ARCADIA, LA
WHEN I SERVE IN THAT AREA….
I DO HOPE THE WEEK AHEAD WILL BE FILLED WITH BLESSINGS…LOOK FOR THEM THEY ARE ALL AROUND US….
COME JOIN US SUNDAY AS WE CELEBRATE
THE FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!

Missing 105

A pious man, who had reached the age of 105, suddenly stopped going to synagogue.

Alarmed by the old fellow's absence after so many years of faithful attendance, the Rabbi went to see him.

He found him in excellent health, so the Rabbi asked, "How come after all these years we don't see you at services anymore?"

The old man lowered his voice. "I'll tell you, Rabbi," he whispered.

"When I got to be 90, I expected God to take me any day. But then I got to be 95, then 100, then 105. So, I figured that God is very busy and must've forgotten about me, and I don't want to remind Him!"

Night Out Dancing

A husband, who is not the most outgoing guy, relents to his wife's months of nagging to take her out dancing. During the evening one guy on the dance floor is giving it large - break dancing, moon walking, back flips, the works.

Seeing this performance, the wife turns to her husband and says: "See that guy? 25 years ago he proposed to me and I turned him down."

Her husband replies, "Looks like he's still celebrating!!!"

OUCH!!!!

CONCLUSION OF SUNDAY’S SERMON:

I THINK THIS IS A WONDERFUL PLACE TO BRING THIS SECTION OF THE SERIES TO A CLOSE…YOU SEE GOD IS INTERESTED IN OUR LIVES  THERE IS NOT AN EVENT…A PLACE OR A PERSON THAT ESCAPES HIS NOTICE…

GOD IS BUSY ENCOURAGING AND WANTS US TO ALLOW HIM TO LEAD US…IF WE DON’T HE WILL INTERVENE…

FOR OUR GOOD….WHEN WE THINK GOD HAS FORGOTTEN US…that’s IS WHEN WE WILL FIND HIM NEARER THAN EVER….

BUT WE DO NOT HAVE TO BE A TRICKSTER…TO GET CLOSE TO HIM…THE SCRIPTURES TELL US TO DRAW NIGH UNTO HIM AND HE WILL DRAW NIGH (CLOSE) TO US….

WE NEED THAT CLOSENESS AND WE CERTAINLY NEED HIM IN OUR EVERY EVENT…PLACE AND IN OUR PERSON AS WELL.

MAY YOU BE AWARE OF GOD’S

PRESENCE EVERY MOMENT THIS WEEK

SEE YOU SUNDAY….

GOD BLESS YOU…

Optimism

As I was driving home from work one day, I stopped to watch a local Little League baseball game that was being played in a park near my home. As I sat down behind the bench on the first-base line, I asked one of the boys what the score was. "We're behind 14 to nothing," he answered with a smile.

"Really," I said. "I have to say you don't look very discouraged."

"Discouraged?" the boy asked with a puzzled look on his face. "Why should we be discouraged? We haven't been up to bat yet."

MAY YOU KNOW THE JOY THAT COMES WITH THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD WHO LOVES YOU…ALL THE TIME!!@
